BENEFITS OF DRINKING WATER
As a rather active individual, one of the key elements to remember is staying hydrated and by this I mean ensuring that I consume enough water especially during a workout. This isn’t just important for athletes but rather for every single person that aims to live a healthy lifestyle.
As we all know water makes up 60% of the human body and it is important that our bodies keep the appropriate temperatures throughout the day. With this said it is recommended that each person consumes at least 8 glasses of water a day which gives you a total of 2 liters per day. Now you may ask why I’m stressing the point of hydration?
Here are a few benefits of water intake:
It delivers oxygen to the body
Our intestines absorb the water we drink which is circulated throughout the body in the form of body fluids such as blood. Oxygen is delivered to our cells and waste material is then taken away by means of urination. Blood circulation in the skin also increases when the body temperature rises which enables heat dissipation through sweating, this act helps to keep the human body at a constant temperature.
It lubricates the joints
Water also has a way of keeping the tissues within your body moist thus, staying hydrated aids in retaining high levels of moisture in sensitive areas as well as in the blood brain and bones.
It aids in skin health and beauty
Drinking the required amount of water on a daily basis is crucial for good health as well as aiding in digestion absorption and circulation. Just like any other part of the body, the skin is also made up of cells which are also made up of water. Thus without water the organs will not function normally or at its best for that matter.
The lack of hydration in the body will reflect on the skin by means of dryness so one must ensure to consume a large amount of water on a daily basis. It is important to remember that water will reach all the other organs before it reaches the skin, so hydration is of high importance.
It prevents kidney damages
As we all know water is crucial when it comes to kidneys and taking care of it as water aids in the removal of waste from the blood in the form of urine. It helps with keeping blood vessels open making it more effectively and freely to your kidneys however, if your body is dehydrated it is difficult for this delivery system to take place therefore, making your kidneys prone to kidney failure. So ensuring that enough water intake throughout the day especially in warm weathers is important.
It’s been said that water helps with weight loss. Most people have been increasing their water intake for this specific reason. There are claims that when the human body consumes water before meals it will reduce one’s appetite therefore, enabling you to consume less food than you usually would as water is a calorie-free substance.
